Weekend Joys in Books and More: January 15th
Happy Friday!
I know that I have certainly been shaken by what is happening in the US over the past few weeks. It is a lot to process, and I am trying to take as much time as I can to give both myself and those around me grace as we process the almost insane amount of baggage we are being handed.
This week, I have 5 things to help you start your weekend off in the best frame of mind possible.
1.) When I get tense at night and have trouble sleeping, I tend to lean towards soothing audiobooks. My go to is Lord of the Rings, and I know a lot of people who find Jim Dale’s Harry Potter equally relaxing, but you can also check this list out!
2.) I’m not quite this motivated in 2021, but Yoga With Adriene starts every January with a series of 30 days of yoga (for free!). It’s not too late to jump into the last 2 weeks, or start from the beginning today!
3.) Science says if you listen to THIS, your anxiety will be reduced by 65%. For more background info, and other scientifically relaxing songs, see this article.
4.) Did you know you can take a FREE live virtual trip to Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone? Recently featured in the New York Times, Walking Shadow‘s trips are really fun and a great way to travel remotely! They have one this Sunday at 11am MST.
5.) I have been loving mysteries lately. There is something soothing in seeing a problem get solved. Find out what locked room mystery you should read! I asked for something funny and cozy and they suggested Ten Dead Comedians, which looks amazing and is a new to me book!
I hope this helps you start your weekend feeling relaxed and rejuvenated! I’ll be back in a few weeks with a post on The Thirteen Problems by Agatha Christie (click HERE for the first post in the series), and to wrap up my January reading month.
I’m also working on a few new projects, one of which needs volunteers who have an interest in or have read a lot of books of a specific type (books about trees, shifter romances, parenting books, anything you like). If that is you or someone you know, please get in touch!
