Weekend Joys in Books and More: April 9th

    April 9, 2021 /

Hello Everyone, We are having our weird second winter here in Montana, and snow in April is slightly less fun than it is in October! That being said, the past few weeks have been good, and I am looking forward to some fun weeks to come. This week, I have a few fun things for you all, and I hope it sets your weekend up well! 1.) I love authors recommending authors, and this list is pretty amazing. 2.) I have recently developed a deep love for Smithsonian Magazine, and this article is a great example of what makes them so amazing! 3.) This is years old, but I highly…

    A Jane Austen Re-read: Introduction

    March 6, 2020 /

Pretty much every year, I end up rereading a series of classics from my childhood. This usually happens when I hit my first “reading block” of the year, and I always love getting to fall into old, comfortable stories! This year, I treated myself and bought a beautiful set of Jane Austen’s books to reread, especially since I realized that while I have read them all throughout the years, I didn’t actually OWN any of them. This is a fun reread for me because I read all of Austen’s works at such different ages that they hold very different places in my mind and heart, and I am excited to…

    My Reading Month: August

    September 2, 2019 /

So I have had a stop and start sort of reading month. I’ll be honest here – this month has flown by and between some crazy life changes and some crazy job stuff, I simply have not read all that much. When my brain gets overloaded, I tend to gravitate towards podcasts and television instead of books. I’m not sure this is necessarily the best choice, as reading is certainly equally relaxing, but it also takes so much more effort and sometimes I just don’t have it in me (and lets be honest, sometimes trashy television feels SO good). I do have one book to share with you all, which…

    Dead Feminists: A Reading List

    May 19, 2018 /

Recently, I picked up a beautiful book by Seattle printers Chandra O’Leary and Jessica Spring. Dead Feminists combines brief biographies of women who have worked for feminism and social justice with reproductions of prints they have designed for each woman. Their beautiful broadside prints highlight the words and accomplishments of women throughout the ages, from Sappho in ancient Greece to the Thea Ross, the inspiration for Tugboat Annie. Furthermore, Chandra and Jessica donate part of their proceeds from each print to charities and organizations related to the message and work of the feminist being profiled. These are still being made, and there make a limited run of between 100 and…
