2020 Updates

Whoops,

I’ve fallen off over the last few months, and for that I apologize! This year, one of my goals is to take the time to make this blog a little more regular, and to find a few ways to amplify even more voices.

I wanted to update you all a little on my reading/story goals for 2020, and keep an eye out for some award updates (I’ve missed quite a few!) and book posts coming in the next few weeks

Reading Goals:

Every year, I participate in the Goodreads book challenge and in another challenge called 52 Books Around The Year that has a group on Goodreads. While they are not for everyone, for me, book challenges are a way to keep myself focusing on reading books in my downtime instead of falling into the addicting habit of scrolling Facebook, playing phone games or watching trashy TV.

This year, I have also been documenting my books on a spreadsheet I was shared, which breaks down all sorts of silly stats like pages read per day. This is mostly for fun, but it does also document some great diversity goals.

I have also been increasingly aware of how what I do at night affects my sleep, and I am working on making sure that my last 30 minutes or so of awake time are filled with either listening to a podcast or reading a book instead of staring at a screen.

Writing Goals:

I am really motivated this year to start writing more! I find that I am happier and healthier when I am creating, and writing about my reading life is such a fun endeavor!

I also absolutely LOVE giving book recommendations, and I would like to try and work that in more this year. I know not everyone has the time or energy to read as much as I can, but I also want to make sure folks can find amazing books that they love.
