Weekend Joys in Books and More: February 5th

Hello and happy weekend!

In a week that has sometimes felt endless, I am counting my joys as well. I was able to get vaccinated last Thursday (!) and we FINALLY got enough snow to actually play in it. Enjoy the links below, and I’ll be with you next Wednesday with another installment in my Miss Marple reread, The Body in the Library.

1.) My old roommate had this book, and it made me laugh every time. Apparently there are sequels too. If you want to see some of the images in the book, this blog has a few of them.

2.) It’s not too late to think about Valentine’s Gifts. I’m not a big fan of the traditional gifts (expect for chocolate, because chocolate is a universally good idea), but you could also support performing arts and get a loved one a personalized message from a favorite performer!

3.) This is a beautiful (and heartbreaking) poem that brainpickings.org called “the ultimate pandemic poem”

4.) This is wonderful information and so detailed!

5.)Jirka Vinse Jonatan Väätäinen is an artist that does some incredible work!

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for the reminder of “One Art.” It made me remember discussing it with my 12th graders back years ago. I have now lost them, haven’t I? And yet not. Good ol’ impermanence…you heartbreaker you, here you are again reminding us how many angles “disaster” has.
