Weekend Joys in Books and More: April 16th
Hello Everyone, I would be lying if I said I hadn’t been put through the ringer on a personal level this week, but I go into the weekend recognizing the value of the support that I have! There is something about this time of the year that is always hard, and the added stress of the tail end of the pandemic makes this weekend all the more welcome. I hope your week has been better than mine, and that these fun things help kick start your weekend well. This list also has a bit of a theme actually, and I hope you find it “out of this world”! 1.) Apparently…

Weekend Joys in Books and More: March 19th
Hello everyone, In addition to what has simply been a tough week in a lot of ways, I had a weird Covid-anniversary this past week. Yesterday was both the day I was considered fully vaccinated, and the day that, a year ago, we closed my daycare due to concerns about the pandemic. Although we opened up 2 months later, it was a weird time, and reflecting on that this week put me in a contemplative mood. I have a weird assortment for you all this week as I’m hoping to change my energy a bit and go into the weekend feeling motivated. 1.) One of my primary needs in any…

Weekend Joys in Books and More: February 26th
Hello and happy weekend to you all! This week, I have some great audio listens and some interesting reads for you all. I’m sorry this is so late – I’ve been putting in some catch up work days on Fridays, and so my weekends have been starting a bit later! 1.) This podcast was absolutely brilliant 2.) Do you ever find yourself thinking that something in the 1990s was “just a few years ago?”. You are in good company. 3.) Ever been tempted to ring up your organic apples as a cheaper variety? Apparently, you are not alone. 4.) These words are really cool! Also, they come from a beautiful…

Weekend Joys, Books and More: December 18th
Is it just me, or does it feel a little early to start doing the “Best of 2020” lists? Maybe I’m a bit of a grinch, but I always feel like these lists forget that one 12th of the year happens in December! This weekend, I may not have a best of list, but I do have some fun things to check out: 1.) These are hilarious, and the prints are probably one of my favorite gift ideas for outdoorsy people! 2.) These are some fun book pairings. 3.) I made this for an (outdoor) party the other night, and I think it may become my new appetizer disk for…

September: I am OVER IT! (also some book recs)
I know its taken longer than it has for others for this to hit, but this month I am just DONE. I’m over it, and it is hard to cut through that stupor. The (only) vacation I have taken in the last 9 months turned into a “fun as a story, but not at the time” adventure, our dog has been sick (she has medication now and is feeling better, but it was a lot of sleepless nights), work is incredibly busy, and I can’t get to everything I need to get to, Covid-19 cases are finally starting to increase in our small community (where much of the population refuses…

The Best Book Podcasts of 2020 So Far
Hello! Well, I’m back after a bit of a hiatus, and today, I want to share some of my favorite book podcasts with you. This is by no means a definitive list, but there are so many different variations of book podcasts out there, and this is a rundown of some of my favorites. I wanted to give you a variety, so the podcasts below include general book news podcasts, public domain book reads, book recommendations and more! Books and Authors (BBC) This is an eclectic mix of a few BBC book related radio shows, and while their interviews with authors and book content is great, what makes this podcast…

Running and Podcasts
I hate running. I love being outside, I love getting moving, but the idea of getting out for a run just for the sake of it is a tough sell for me. However, with a semi-desk job that usually entails 9 – 10 hour days, sometimes running is the only way for me to stay active and feel like I am taking care of myself. One of the ways I have been able to motivate myself is with fun and engaging audio drama podcasts. Because they are more episodic than an audio-book, I can gauge my run to the length of one or two podcasts without ending up stopping at…

The Golden State Killer: Podcast Recommendations
For someone who actively dislikes scary movies of all kinds, I am weirdly fascinated by true crime shows and podcasts. With the recent announcement that the case of the Golden State Killer (also knows as the East Area Rapist and the Original Night Stalker), I went back into my podcast archives and found some great podcasts for anyone who is interested in this absolutely horrifying case. One of the most fascinating things about this case for me is that because a book called I’ll Be Gone In The Dark came out about this case recently, many of these podcasts are activly intersecting with the recent arrest making them so much…
